USW hosts event as part of BBC Digital Cities Cardiff week

On Tuesday 27th February, University of South Wales is hosting 'Mind the Gap: Skills Development for Cardiff’s Creatives’ in partnership with Creative Cardiff as part of BBC Digital Cities Cardiff week. Panellists include TV producer, Elis Roberts (Antena), games developer, Susan Cummings (TinyRebelGames), head of Ffilm Cymru, Pauline Burt and our own doctoral researcher Faye Hannah (also of Our Co-Lab training consultancy).

Professor Ruth McElroy, co-director of the Centre for Media and Culture in Small Nations, is chairing the event.

USW Film lecturer Daryl Perrins is being interviewed by presenter Charlie Ross on the cultural importance of a number of rare movie posters from the 30’s and 40’s which were found under a carpet in Cardiff. They were auctioned in the city the day after the filming.

Daryl Perrins participated in 'Fall Sound’, a podcast available on the Loose Goose Radio Show that forms a tribute to the life and work of the recently departed Mark E Smith. This features a mixture of some of the best music from The Fall from the past 30 years and an attempt to pin down that elusive 'Fall Sound’, as well as Daryl’s take on Mark E Smith as a Northerner, a man, a leader and a working-class hero in the traditional sense.
