With a formal response from Phil George, Chair Arts Council Wales / Gydag ymateb ffurfiol gan Phil George, Cadeirydd Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru In the current discourse of UK identity and nationhood, the centre is keen to engage with leading experts on the value and position of small nations in both cultural and political terms. Over the past decade, issues of scale and small nationhood have become central to scholars studying film and media studies. This lecture aims to explore why size and scale should be galvanizing concepts of nationhood and cultural identity in this dynamic and responsive field. Prof. Hjort’s lecture will focus on solidarity, public values, and social responsibility to argue that small nations have much to contribute to the realization of an important ideal.
